The idiomatic expression “There are plenty of fish in the sea” really holds true literally. The idiom suggest that there are plenty of choices still available. The idea tied to this is that, there are in fact millions and millions of fish. There are different shapes, colors and sizes. The infinite blue water is home to millions and millions species of fish.

Coral Reefs are the home to some of the most colorful and most interesting types of fish. They are hosts to black and white striped orange clown fishes—immortalized by Disney in Finding Nemo—to pufferfish that blow up when they get scared, to John Dory fish or fish with a black spot on the side, different types of cardinalfish, of frogfish, hogfish, soapfish and butterflyfish. In fact, there are more than hundreds and hundreds of known fish species known to be living in coral reefs.Coral reefs are not only home to fish but also to other wonderful sea creatures like starfishes, sea horses, jellyfishes, eels, stingrays and even sharks. The diversity is too vast but that does not mean that it is limitless.

Coral reef fish are now endangered due to destruction of their natural habitat. The major causes of endangerment include coral bleaching, over-fishing and dynamite poisoning.
